About Wedding Dance
What kind of dancing would you do at a wedding, at your first dance, or during the reception? We call this Wedding Dance. It differs from traditional ballroom dancing because it uses simplified footwork, it’s super easy to learn, and it’s danced to a wide variety of very current music. (We’ve heard it referred to as Schmooze Foxtrot, and a few other obscure names, but we like Wedding Dancing the best.) With just a few hours of instruction you can master a couple styles of footwork that will work with every tempo and style of music, learn to lead and follow, and add some fun spins and other dance moves. Of course, you can always opt for learning a classic ballroom dance like waltz or foxtrot, or even venture into some swing, salsa or country two step. But most engaged couples who come to us to learn to dance at their wedding (or someone else’s wedding) choose to learn Wedding Dance because it’s easy, fun, and quick to learn. And since it can be mastered so quickly, couples who dance some simple Wedding Dance moves tend to look natural, since it doesn’t require hours of practice and repetition, and they can bypass the awkward stage very quickly. Any song will work, we promise!
